Comment: I am pleased to see so many sites relating to military women. I like yours,because it gets down to the nitty gritty of life. For so many years,I felt alone when it came to my military experiences. I was in service during the Korean War, and spent 2 years overseas on Okinawa and Japan: Clerical, Purchasing, and special services as a dancer, singer, actress. It was not all fun and games. There was sexual abuse and harassment, which wasn't talked about back then. It took 40 years for the army and va to admit I had PTSD. What hurts the most for many of us who served during this time is that our service is rarely acknowledged even during the past 3 years, when veterans of the Korean War are being honored for the 50 year Anniv. The organizations and media will say men and women served, but do not include us in tapes or interviews or honors. A Nurse may be interviewed, but there were 120,000 of us who served right alongside of men who weren't in combat either. You may post this on site if you wish.

Comment: Joining the Air Force was the best thing I ever did.Even though there have been rough times (dual military with 3 young children), it has been great. I have met some of the most wonderful people all over the world and have friends everwhere. The military is what you make of it. The military is not for everyone, so think about it before you make that commitment, you'll see places you never dreamed of and live in conditions you thought were not possible. You can do anything you have to for survival and to get the mission done. Good luck to all you new recruits!!
