Most take us for granted just because we are not on the fighting lines, but what they do not realize is that, we too have offered more to the miltary then any given male, starting from the revolutionary war, when women fought in disguise and have defeated many of our opponents and brought this country into a undefeated rest.

Comment: Wow! I've read just about every posting there is on all subjects available on this website. Some opinions I say suprised, no shocked me. Some made me laugh and angry. But most importantly, after 7 and a half years in the Corps, and recently Honorably Discharged, I wish I had found this site earlier. Being a generator mech, always the only female in my units, I always wished to have a senior enlisted or officer mentor to help guide me and just talk to. I loved my time in, but made mistakes like all humans. All women who serve at one point or another feel confused, lost and/ or depressed at least once during their career. How could we not? We experience the same stress, if not more than our male counterparts, just because of the fact that we are women. I hope that your site can create a reach program that enables women serving now, especially the young ones or "boots" a chat area where they network to other servicewomen past and present for advice, guidance, and support. I don't mean questions they can call a 1-800 number for but personal responses to questions only another female, and better yet, an experienced female can answer. I believe through this networking, women in the military would be stronger mentally and physically as a whole. If we become stronger,the hope is that more servicewomen will stay in, get promoted, and represent.

Comment: We were sorry to learn that Rear Admiral Fran McKee passed away on March 3, 2002. A military icon and ground breaker for military women, Admiral McKee, in February 1976, was the first woman line officer to be selected for Flag Rank in the US Navy. She was also the first woman to be selected for two-star rank in the Navy. Admiral McKee will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery on 8 April. Specifics will be provided as soon as available.

Comment: I found this site by accident, (or maybe I was directed to it). I am trying to find my mother. We were separated when I was very young. Her name was Rae Andrea. I think she was from Nebraska. She worked as a nurse at the navy hospital in Camp Pendleton-San Diego, in 1958-59. She was a WAVE.
She married an enlisted sailor 1959-1960, and had a daughter. Daughter was possibly born at the Naval hospital, or at Scripps Memorial in Nebraska. If you can help, I'd like to hear from you. Thank you.
