Comment: Interesting site. As a veteran who got out in 93 as a single mom of two daughters, I wish I would have known about a site to talk to others so I would not have had it so hard. But then again, I would not be the person I am today if I had not gone through such trials. I got out and went on welfare because I only had a highschool diploma and the outprocessing was horrible when I went through. I entered college in Jan 95 and in Oct 99 I gradutated with my Masters in Management. It took me 4 years to go from a highschool diploma to a Masters. It was a long hard road, filled with many issues such as a car repossession and no support from their father. He has still managed to get away with not paying child support and he is still in the Army. My girls and I have a family motto of "shoot for the moon, get the moon...nothing else is acceptable." And we will get there.

Comment: I served from March of 77 to Feb 83. My duty stations were basic/AIT Ft. McClellan, Al (military police officer)March 12,77 - Sept 77. Went to 529th Military Police Co in Heidleberg, Germany until Feb 1979, then to Ft. Campbell KY where I worked in Vehicle Registration the last quarter of my time there. Otherwise patrol duty with the 101st. Then went to Korea 553rd MP Co, from 1981-1983. I got out in Feb 1983. I would have stayed in if they would not have ever brought me back to Korea, but I realized my chances were too good at coming back. So I got out. Am in PTSD treatment presently here at Spokane for sexual assault by a man in the Army, my platoon sergeant. God bless those of us that have gone through this...hold your heads up high ladies...we are still here! :) Blessings, all Tami

Comment: I am enjoying reading all the guestbook entries. I wonder if anyone remembers me. I did basic training at Ft. Mcclellan in Jan 1964 and then went to Ft. Sam Houston for dental training and was stationed at Ft. Ord till 1967. I remember many wonderful people, many whose names I have forgotten but would love to hear from you. I wish I could have retired from the Army but had to make that choice to stay in or marry and have children. If the first Bush administration had allowed us to finish the job in 1991, you all would not have had to finish it for us. For that I am truly sorry. My husband and I both served in the U.S. Army from 1959 through 1961. I met many wonderful men and women during my tenure. Comment: I am a male. I decided to comment on another military website on womens' military haircuts because a woman featured on an Internet Hair Page was called up for service in the Iraq War by the U.S. Army, to serve her country.
After reading the above stories from some women who have served in all branches of the U.S Armed Forces, I
have changed my mind about women having to comply to short militery style haircuts (except for the above-collar-length regulation in the U.S. Navy).
These ladies (some of them in their stories) say they went through hell with their hair and their stories are eye-opening and educational to me, a long-haired male (by choice).
I did not include my e-mail because I receive too much spam/nonsense already. It takes all kinds to make a world.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the military women. I admire them very much.

Comment: Since signing April 02 have moved to the beautiful mts. of North Carolina. Miss the Lady Veterans of Elmira, Corning and Bath. We had such wonderful luncheons and volunteer work at the Nursing home unit at the VA Hospital. Ladies it is such a wonderful experience to volunteer and help the vets. Hoping to hear from old friends from Basic Tng. at McClellen, A-1, Oct.60-and Clerical tng. Also, Aberdeen Proving Grounds 1961-62 and HAWAII,Ft. Shafter! Also had some wonderful yrs. in the ARMY RESERVE AS A Senior MOS Instructor. Best regards to all Lady Veterans and to all gals considering the Service--follow your dreams!

Comment: Am looking for anyone who knew Sgt. Tommy W. Risner. He serve in Viet Nam in 1965-66. He died at age 23 after he returned home from Viet Nam. He was my brother. My mother is a seventy-five year old widow in bad health. Lately she has searched the internet for anyone who knew Tommy in service. He was 19 years old, a sgt. and served as a forward observer. He recieved a bronze star. Please help me make my mother happy.
