I just had surgery, but will still be leaving for basic training in August. I am so out of shape and running is particularly hard for me. I was wondering if in basic recruits run every day, how far and how fast. I know these questions seem kind of silly, but I don't have long to get in shape!!!

Hi Dannie:)**********I sent your question regarding shipboardlife to Jacki, an AT3 presently deployed in the Med...Ill post her response when I get it...I thouht it would be neat to kinda keep up with Jackie during het 6 month cruise...she left about 2 weeks ago so we are just getting started:)******** Now as far as running (and its not a silly question at all, in fact I would say its probably the very most asked question of all), You will not be the only one that arrives there out of shape.**You probably wont run every day, but you will probably 4 or 5 of the 7 days in a week.**Ive been out of basic a long time so maybe someone will let us know more current info on this.**You will be able to do it. When I was in there were lots of people that had trouble running when we got there and only a few by the time we left. Even the people that had trouble with it were able to run the required 1 1/2 miles in the allotted time...i think its about 15 min. Let me know if you have other questions.**If you read back on some messages from Biba Kavas(?spelling:) she is in basic now, she should be almost ready for graduation. Im looking forward to hearing how she did, she also had concerns about the physical portion, as do most people.**To me basic was more mental than physical.**Im sure that you will do fine.**When you have a bunch of others to run with it seems a little easier because you motivate each other to keep going:).**Talk to you soon:)******************************************** **** Sherry
