Hi to anybody who might be reading this!My husband is about to be stationed at Oceana, and I was just looking for any information that anybody might have to give about that area.**I need to find out about apartments for pets, job opportunities for me, daycare for my daughter, etc.**I'm a little nervous, because the farthest east we've ever been was to Millington, and that was my worst nightmare!**We are mostly west coast people, but we're about to make the change.**Anybody have any suggestions or tips?**I sure would appreciate any info.**Thanks!

Hi Shelly,******** I was stationed in Virginia Beach for about 6 years at NAS Oceana (my Bio is posted on the entrance page, It will give you some idea of the time we had there).**I think you will be very pleased once you get settled in and meet some people.**Both of my children were born there...I was really lucky as far as childcare goes.**One of the girls I was stationed with introduced me to Jo, when I was still pregnant with Crystal.**Jo kep her son sometimes when he wasnt in the base nursery.**She and her first husband had 4 kids, the last of which was born when my 2nd child, Chris, was a few months old.**She took the kids to the Doctor for us when we needed her to and also had guardianship papers in case my husband and I were deployed emmergently at the same time.**We went back to Visit summer before last and had a great time.**Jo doesnt babysit anymore, at least she didnt at that time.**If you want e-mail me and Ill give you her number.**She has lived there quiet some time so she may be able to answer some of your other questions.**Also NAS Oceana has a web site and you can find out general info about the area using Citysearch.com.**Hope this helps a little bit.**Good Luck:)!!**
