I'm not joining the navy,(nor am I planning to,) but the guy I'm seeing will be going to boot camp in three weeks.**Does anybody have any suggestions or advice for me regarding having a boyfriend who is in the navy?**I'd really appreciate it.**Thanks :)

The best thing you can do is keep in touch almost constantly.**I am active duty military, and I have seen how guys can get after basic training and their advanced training.**They usually forget their girlfriends as soon as they see all the willing women at their duty station.**Often the long distance thing ends pretty quick.**Unless you can be with him (i.e. get married, which i wouldn't recommend.)**Good luck!

Don't know quite how to answer this.**If you're not in a very serious relationship, expect it may go south.**He's going to be experiencing a lot of very different things, (as are you, probably,) and it's hard when you don't have each other there to share experiences with.**Besides the obvious difficulties of maintaining a long distance relationship, you may grow apart.** That said, if you're in a very serious relationship & are determined to make it work, then I suggest maybe physically relocating to his permanent duty station, and keeping in contact a lot when you're apart.**Be patient; he's going to go through a lot of changes.**Tell him about all the exciting things going on in your life, and listen to his.**Understand he'll have duty & have to stay the night on the ship/base sometimes.**He'll have goofy working hours, stress, frustration, pride.... lots of different emotions he'll likely want to share.**More than anything, communicate with him; both listening AND telling him how you feel about things.**Be you, have fun, & best of luck!

Okay, I will explain myself.**When I went to my technical training, I saw many married or otherwise very involved men who saw all the women at the base and gave into temptation.**I had friends, who were so-called 'extrememly religious' who I went to church with, who I consider now, 'willing women at their duty station.'**That comment was not made toward you, so there is no reason to get offended.**These were women who wanted to see how men would cheat and they didn't care if they broke up a a relationship or a marriage to get a man.**At my 1st TDY, I was one of about 10 women, (1 of 2 single)and there were over 40 men.**This was at a remote training location in Texas.**I saw how the married men took off their rings after the second day, and how they played around.**I guess I am a little bitter, after having a relationship end this way.**Once bitten, twice shy.

: I'm not sure I appreciate that "willing women at their duty station" business.**I consider that comment a very offensive affront, & hope you are planning on explaining what you really meant.**Surely, I misunderstand your statement.
