I'm considering joining the Navy.**I am 33 and have a graduate degree in archaeology, so I'd be entering as an officer via OCS.**I am in very good shape physically and I believe that I have a good mental attitude as well.**My question is this:**what can I expect entering at this "late" stage in life?**Are there issues (age bias, gender bias, etc.) that I should be considering to prepare myself?**I know virtually nothing about military life other than what I've heard second-hand from friends.**I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who can advise me on the issues I mentioned as well as general things like living conditions, assignments (I'm shooting for an Intelligence career), etc.**Please feel free to respond to me via this page or thru my e-mail:**MWest2001@aol.com.**Thanks!

I'm going to college to get a B.S. in nursing so I can go back in as an officer.**Good Luck!!!!!

I am in the BDCP program at my college, expected graduation date June 2000.**I will be 30 years old, with a 5-year-old son.**Like you, I will be an officer via OCS, my MOS being Cryptology/Encoding.**I have been waiting ten years to live my dream; unfortunately, Latino culture dictates that women get married, stay home and have babies.**Enough already, this is my world.**I come from a military background (Grandpa was Marine, Pop retired Army Sergeant, Brother E-6 Radioman USN)**I will be the first female in the family to join, not to mention first college graduate at an "old" age.**Ah life IS good, especially when you are able to make your own decisions. Now if only I can lay low with those oreos ... you go gurl!!!!
