I'm leaving in just 5 days. I didn't think I would be bumped up this quickly, but after things changed with my friends all leaving for college, there's not much use for me to stay around here. A couple weeks ago I could barely run a quarter of a mile. Now, I'm up to jogging half a mile. It's not bad in such little time I've had to prepare. As for thos push-ups. I'm not making much of an advance in that area. But I already know, that it will be taken care of when I get up to basic training. Instead of going into CTR, I'm doing the Seaman apprentice program. It's not what i wanted at first, but it's a better deal. I've memorized my 11 general orders of sentry and my alphabet. All I have left is my chain of command. You don't have any idea of how scared i am right now. On one hand, I'm totally prepared for what I will endure. On the other, I just want to crawl under a table and cry. I know that this is a major change in my life. (i nearly wept when I saw my hair fall to the ground on Sunday) It's also the best move I can make even though I will be in hell for eight weeks. For those of you who are deciding on whether to join the navy or do college, you have to ask yourself a question. Are you ready for the ultimate challenge? Or are you better off just hitting the books? I think I made the best decision that I could. And if you are worried about the physical requirements, just think about me. I could barely run a quarter mile.... now i can. If any of you are going up to great lakes around sept 1st. I'll see you there!
