I have a significant other who just wet to Boot Camp a week ago. 3 days after she go to Great Lakes, she went into separation because she refused to have her permanent retainers taken out. How long do they wait b4 they send recruits home who dont meet requirements What do recruits in Separation do?? Do they get up early and peform any kind of training?? I'm really worried because I havent spoken to her since she called to tell me that she's in separation. Could anyone shed some light on the situation? Thanx.

****This is to "David", in your response to the where abouts of yoursignificant other who was being seperated due to her retainer.****I can tell you not to worry, and that my husband works at the clinic onboot side, he told me of someone who was being seperated due to this, itseemed kind of stupid, I didn't understand. I will tell you she is in Navysweats and living in the seperations barracks, with other people who arebeing seperated either for medical, failure of the run, the tests, uncooperative failure to adhere to the Navy rules etc.. there are so manyreasons David that people are seperated. Since there are so many peoplebeing seperated she is probably waiting for her paperwork to be processedthrough the proper channels, this may take some time so be patient. Youasked what is she doing, more than likely signing release papers andcleaning or doing odd jobs around base, maybe office work or maybe sittingaround her barracks checking in other seps people, she is living with otherfemales they seperate the two sexes. It may take 3 to 6 weeks, her companyprobable will have graduated and left by the time she is getting out. Iwouldn't worry she is still the Navy's responsibillity untill she has hersighned DD-214 in hand at the gate etc.. The Navy is responsible for hermeans of transportation to her home of record address, wherevert that meansi.e.. plane ticket/bust ticket/taxi etc... She is fine and if needs medicalattention will recieve it, she is taken care of untill she is disharged, shelives in barracks with probably officers in charge of higher ranked e-5'sand e-6's who have watch over them while they are doing their processingout, they still have to follow all the rules of other booties, meaning keepmilitary bearing and still basically have no freedom untill they aredisharged, they still get treated like they are in boot camp, they just don'tgo to training there is no point, well I hope I have answered your questionsto the best of my knowledge, she will get more phone calls since in seps youhave that priviledge to let you know what is going on, but be patient itdoes take time, I also thinks she gets paid while she waites she willrecieve a lump sum paycheck when she gets her disharge, so other than thatdon't worry she is just in the process and it takes some time.
