Hi! I have been thinking about enlisting for a while and I have lost about 29 pounds and still have about 15 more to go. The recruiter has been great and has kept me motivated to lose this wait. I guess that I was wondering what it is really like for a woman in the Navy? My uncle was in the Navy and he loved it. I want more then any thing to join. Could someone please tell me what it is like at basic and what is like for a woman in the Navy. Thanks for your time.

Thinking about joining the good ol' navy eh? Great decision Im 18 and I just took the oath this past December of 98. I think it's the best decision and certainly the smartest one Ive ever made! Im very excited to be in the Navy. It's a GREAT way to pay for college plus the many places I get to travel are unbelieveable!!!! :)

Hi! I read you interst in joing the Navy. Well, I am going on my second year being enlisted, I have to say it has been an adventour for me. I left for boot camp in October of 1997- December of 1997. Trust me, boot camp is bareable. All the try to do is break you down to teach you from scratch. The best thing to do when you finally go, keep you mouth shout unless asked a question. You will be tired as ever. Going eighteen hour days is not easy. But it all pays off. Graduation from boot camp was the best day I have ever had. You work hard for it trust me! It is no breeze, you will remember even I still remember when I went. I still remember my RDC. Do you plan on going designated or undesignated. Either on is a good choice but choose a job you are really interested in. Cause that is my mistake, I can't get out of the rate I chose due to there isn't enough in my rate. But it is very hard to advance in. Once you get out in the fleet it is practically like a regular job. Have fun and if you have any questions feel free to email me. ~

Hi- I was in boot camp jan 98- march 98. I was one of the older recruits at 20. There were older/ younger. Joining the navy has been one of the best things i could have ever done. On your question what is it like for women. I am in one of the most competitive fields which was just recently opened up to females in the last 5 years. I am a nuclear EM. I have found that there are 2 type of men just like in the "real world" in the Navy one that feel women should be here and one that think it is a man's world and we don't belong but i have to admit there are probably more that think women belong than don't as long as you have the right attitude. if you are there to work you will MOST likely be accepted...good luck email me with any questions
