I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinions on Pensacola. I will be transferring there in October and I would like to hear some inputs from people either that are stationed there or have been stationed there. Thank you.

I will try to make this as truthful as possible. It just may not sound very nice to you. Anyplace is how you make it. Try being stationed as Lakehurst New Jersey. The base in Pensacola has grown quite alot in the last couple of years. The civilian airport has too right along with it. I hope that you are going there as a permanent duty station at the NAS side. One major item about a schools command area is the witch hunt for fratenizers. Sad, but true. It would help you if you do arrive with a vehicle, if not a car, then possibly a good bicycle. The car dealerships just out side of the main gate, to my knowledge are still selling cars with up to a 30 % interest rate on the car payments. I am talking from fact. I was stationed there in the personnel office, both students and staff section. I guess that you can say that the list is endless on Pensacola if you have been there before. Please E-mail with some detailed type questions that I can answer in better detail. I will say that I envey you because I have alot of good memories from there.

Jen,

I was in Pensacola for CTT "A" school back in 95, and I had the greatest time. The beaches are beautiful and there are so many things to do there. I did happen to get there during hurricane season (Aug-Nov), but still it made life interesting. I think if you keep an open mind and get to know a lot pf people, you'll have the best time.

I just got back from Pensacola( i am on 2 weeks leave now). I was there for the Airman ATD class which was 2 weeks long. Personally i liked it there. It was beautiful and the gulf is within walking distance and is on base!!! there is a lot to do on base. You have pizza hut, subway, taco bell, Mcdonalds, baskin robbins, a naval museum, a night club, game room, and even a movie theater. There is more but this is what i know of for sure. The only thing i didn't like was ther fact it was so hot. other than that i had fun. hope this helps. good luck to you.
