My husband is currently in a 4 year enlistment in the Marine Corps. I am just working dead end jobs that I quit every other month because I hate them! I want to go back to college, but I can't imagine us trying to live off of one income, plus pay for school. It would never work. So, my husband thinks it would be a good idea if I joined the Navy. I think that it would solve some of the problems I am having right now, but I don't know all of the downsides of Dual Enlistments in different branches, even. Will we be able to be stationed together? We don't have any kids, so will we be able to be on ship at the same times? I am interested in the field of medicine, so I figured that no matter where my husband is, there is always going to be a Naval Hospital around. If anyone has ever tried this or can give me any advice on this please email me at Schemer311@aol.com I would really appreciate it!

: I would not suggest that you enlist in a different branch of the service (HM or not). If you are going to try to remain together try enlisting in the same branch of the armed forces. Always remember that the primary goal of each branch is to MEET THEIR NEEDS-NOT YOURS. Just because your interested in the field on medicine does not mean that you will be accepted into that sector. It depends on availability and test scores. The majority of the NAVY Medics that are assigned a Marine Unit are males that are battle ready. Becareful of promises that are not in writing (recruiters will say just about anything to meet their quota). You can always try the reserves as an option. There is a program called the GI Bill. You enlist for 6 years and they will pay you while you go to school (In addition to your reserve pay) depending on the amount of unit you take (they pay per unit).
