We get tons of messages asking about bootcamp/basic. Here's my advice: 1. Do what the recruiter tells you to do. Recruiters are not trained to mislead you, they can give you the best, most current advice. 2. Stop listening to lurid, scary myths about the military and women. Those of us who were successful tend to be quiet about it, because we have been humbled by the experience and we are proud of our service. 3. Your hair, your physical condition, your clothes, your money, etc. are not a problem. All those concerns are managed professionally by your training/DI cadre when you get to basic. 4. Remember the NCOs in basic are not your buddies, they are your trainers and are responsible for your lives. 5. Bootcamp is not scout camp, but it will be the most rewarding experience of your lives.
