I'm interested in joining the Navy, but last year I was perscribed Zoloft(an anti-deppressant), for mild deppression. I only took it for about a month & then I stopped because I realized that it was a circumstantial deppression, & I just kinda got over it. I've never had any problems since, but I was wondering if that would affect my ablity to enlist. If I didn't come out and tell anyone would they be able to find out?

: Hi, Not to put you on hold, but I've got some contacts to get in touch with regarding your concerns. As this is a weekend, I'll have to ask for a few days until I can ask around. One would be a medical specialist (I'll be there early Monday for a physical) and a close friend of mine who is a recruiter stationed in the area. I know the last person you want to ask is your own recruiter if you've already spoken to one. Hang tight and I'll be in touch. Off the record, I don't really feel this is a disqualification for your actual entrance into the Navy. The Navy is very much hiring now. Steph

Hi, there. I just researched this issue some. Am currently taking a fairly low dose of paxil, which is another similar anti-depressant. The recruiter told me that if it's basically just to give me a boost, if I am not relying on it, and if I can get a letter from my doctor that I could quit any time at my discretion, she thought it would be okay. She didn't even suggest I actually quit.
