Hi everyone! Right now I'm in JROTC and loving every minute of it. I love wearing the uniform, walking down the hallways of my high school, having everyone turn there heads to look at me. It makes me feel real special. I really want to join the Navy, but I'm unsure if I want to go to community college first to get an AA degree and a BS or BA degree before I go to the Navy. What I really want to do is go into it right after I graduate in 2001. I was wondering if I could probably go to college during the military training and get those degrees? I've been reading some of the messages here and I have one question about hygeine. Since I'm 17 and in that stage of puberty I have that one nagging problem that mostly all teens face is *acne*. I've been using acne products and they are working for me and I want to know if I could bring theh with me when I go to bootcamp? My real major problem for me is my weight. I am about 5 ft 2 1/2 in. to 3 in. and I weigh around 165. I'm not good at exercising because I don't stick with it everyday(I'm a lazy person!:0))anyways, what can I do besides exercising and should I go to comm. college first or not? It would really mean a whole lot to me if somebody could answer my questions, if you like you could e-mail me your replies! Kathrin

Hello,
I'm currently a senior in high school and probablycan help u out a little. If you really want to go to college why not join ROTC? Unless u want to be enlisted. I just got finished with my scholarship application and my chances of getting it are very good....that's always an option...if your interested u can email me and I'll give a bunch of websites I found helpful....If you want to enlist u have several options about comm. college and things....they have all types of programs...my brother enlisted after getting a assoc. degree and now he's finishing after his A-school training...I think he's doing some type of enlisted ROTC program...All the school stuff somewhat depends on what u really want to do in the Navy... The exercise thing...I think since I am your age I can help out...Me myself I thrive on sports...so If u like to play something try playing it every other day...I also try to find an activity that is physically involved that I enjoy...That way it isn't really exercise! But if your joining the Navy you have got to be able to motivate yourself! I know I dont always like exercise either but try to do a little each day and not massive aerbics from day 1... Here's another little secret...My figure skating coach told me to do crunches during commercials..It really works! The tv show is like a little reward for working out a lil bit during the commercials...I have so much more I can share with you so please email me: jasmine@vipsuite.com

Hi there!
I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner but I was busy with other things. I read your message about joining an ROTC college, but what I really want to do is be enlisted in the Navy right after I graduate from high school. After I posted my message I started searching the Navy website and found out that I COULD go to college trough the SOCNAV program so that I would be able get an assoc. degree. I'll try out your suggestions about exercising. Thanks a lot for your reply, I hope you get that scholarship you applied for! If you could give me more suggestions on how to lose weight I would delighted! I would have e-mailed you my reply but message center wrote that I should make my reply here. -Kathrin-
