In comparing the Coast Guard to the Navy I frequently hear Coasties talk about how much excitement and interest their job offers. How do you feel about your navy job? Is it fun? Do you like it?

I am in ABE (Aviation Boatsain's Mate/Arresting gear) and it mainly deals with hydraulics, getting dirty, tools, catching birds when they land on the flight deck, and sometimes long hours. Personally, i do not like the job because i don't like working on machines and getting dirty. I am undesignated so that is a good thing because i can strike out of this rate and do what i want to do. I want to be an RM (radioman) because that mainly deals with computers. hope this helps a little. there are people that are in ABE and love it so don't make any decisions based on what others say about their rate because you might love it or hate it.
