My Grandmother, Marcella "Marcy" Lenne (maiden name) Lundstrom served as a Wave in the Radar department in Washington DC during World War II. She was very anxious to join the war effort and enlisted on the earliest date possible-November 23, 1943-her twentieth birthday.

To honor Grandma's service to our country as well as the outstanding values, morals, and support she has always given her family, we are planning a surprise birthday party and flag raising party for her at a local Veteran's hall on November 26, 1999. Also, on November 23,1999, a United States flag will be flown briefly over the Capitol building in Washington DC-the same city in which MArcy served- to honor Marcy's 76th birthday and her 56th Wave enlistment anniversary.

We would like you to take part in this special celebration honoring my Grandmother. We are creating a scrapbook commemorating Marcy's experiences as a Wave. I know that nothing would mean more to my grandmother than if she heard from fellow Waves and other veterans or current military men and women-male or female. Would you please take a few minutes of your time to email Marcy (in care of me) at Bailey7435@aol.com? Your choice what to say-memories of the War, Wave stories, just a birthday wish-whatever you would like). All emails cards, and letters will be included in the scrapbook and given to her at the party. Cards/letter may be sent to Marcy at the following address:

Marcella Lundstrom C/O Lynn Zimmerman 2205 North 11th St Terre Haute, IN 47804-2316

My Grandmother considers being a Wave one of the best times of her life-she still carries a Wave card in her wallet and she is active in numerous veteran organizations. She has shared this remarkable time with me and encouraged my love for American History and genealogy. After the surprise party, I am going to create a web site concerning Waves and the story of my Grandmother's experience as one-including her large Wave collection, photos, etc. I'll be sure to let you know about the web site after it is created. In the meantime thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you will be a part of this special occasion for my Grandmother. Grandma recently bought a computer, so I know she will cherish your messages and respond quickly. Please also forward this message to any other Waves and veterans that you know.

Thank you and God Bless, Lynn Zimmerman
