I have a question for anyone one with some years of experience. What happens to a person if they get into your personal property, while at work on base, and copy all of your personal information (debit card, ss# ect.) then clean out your bank account. This has happened to my daughter, and so far the Navy has done nothing to the person who did this. They took every penny she had in her bank account and every check she wrote bounced. The bank has covered it under their insurance and are doing an investigation, and the Navy has been informed and proof given in writing, but not one thing has happened to the person who did this. They still go to work everyday and are allowed to go about their job as if nothing has happened. I do not understand how this can go on! Anyone out there know what direction I can point my daughter in? She is going to the civilian police next if the navy will not do their job.

In addition to being in the Navy , I was also in the Army Reserves. Anyway, one of the clerks that had access to our personal information (SS#, income info etc) was "selling" the information to individuals for the purposes of obtaining utilities for individuals w/ delinquent credit.
The only time a soldier would become aware of the fraud was when the "selling" party refused to pay a bill and it reflected on the soldier's TRW report. Upon contacting the company (the majority was used for phone service)the soldier would receive personal feedback that only he or she could have known.
The Army did nothing about this. A matter of fact, they allowed him to enlist active duty! Tell your daughter to contact the Navy's Legal Office for advice. If that does not work -contact the civilain police or sue him/her in small claims court.

I cannot believe the military is this bad!!! What happen to Honor??? To top things off this girl is pregnate and the Navy is afraid of pursuing this...says it might cause a miscarrage!! She is due in December, a bit late for a miscarrage. My daughter is the victim and they are treating her like she is the guilty party. Still as of yesterday NOTHING has been done to this girl. She is free to come and go, to rob someone else! No one can believe the extent of this. This girl had a phone put in her barricks under my daughters name and was going to have the bill eletronically withdrawn from her account! She had a money order sent to her husband (on a ship) for $125.00. She purchased a cell phone with the debit card over the phone. We are not talking just a few dollars here...All she wants is alittle justice. i am sure this is not the 1st time something like this has happened, but i have only had 2 replys. Can anyone out there tell me why the Sr. Chief or investigator or the Cob will do NOTHING?

I feel really bad for your daughters situation. I don't have an answer for you but I know that bad people are a part of life and I have yet to figure out why people like that seem to walk around without even a scratch. Military people are just people in uniform. It's not right. Who knows, maybe this Sr. Chief doesn't have a clue how to handle this situation. My advice to your daughter is go straight to the civilian police maybe with them poking around in this Sr. Chiefs turf it will get him moving.
Just like not all civilian companies are the same, not all places in the Navy are the same. Please don't judge the military as a whole by this one creep.

I'm afraid I don't have an answer either. I'm not sure how you can force this person's boss to take action, but Terri's idea of getting the civilian police involved might get things moving. The one suggestion I have (and this may have already been done) is that since everything is in your daughter's name, she can cancel the accounts, have the phone taken away, and take this person to small claims court to get her money back. If the Navy isn't prepared to punish her, at least a judge can make her pay up.

Have you gone to NCIS? If they don't work, then maybe try the Base Commander. Apparently, the SCPO doesn't care about what your daughter has lost. So, if the base commander comes down on her and she loses something, tough. I am in the Navy myself and am so sick and tired of seeing injustices I could scream!!!! Most definitely have your daughter cancel EVERYTHING that this thief has installed and/or bought in her name. If at all possible, call the bank and find out how to stop debit card payments. This thief needs to be put where she belongs; in the BRIG, pregnant or not!!!!

Th Brig is exactly what I think. They want quality people in there working but let someone like this stay! What happened to dishonorable discharges?? Don't they do that any more? What do you have to do...steal from the Sr. Chief to get in trouble? Jag has talked to her now and she has confessed...but that is as far as it has gone. Daughter says it looks like Capt mass is all they will do. That will be the last straw, and off to civilian court. I do know that if you do not follow as they tell you they can make it very hard on you, and no one needs that. But give me a break this is a joke and if Capt mass is all that happens, I will loose all respect for the Navy!
