Do it.**The Marine Corps taught me some wonderful, lifelong values, ethics and habits.**I met my husband in the Corps.**We juggled our dual careers for six years quite successfully.**I believe our 13 year marriage has lasted so long because the Marine Corps instilled in both of us a sense of commitment and honor to the vows we took.** **** I do recommend that you think very long and hard before you have children though.**I chose to end my active duty when my first baby was due.** I could not imagine trying to combine being a mother and a Marine.**I have always felt that this choice was the best leadership example I made in my career.**It was also the first best leadership decision I made as a mother.**** My husband is still active duty.**As a former Marine I understand his stresses better and feel I provide great support to him.****** Good luck.** Semper FI.

I never had any goals before I met him or while I was with him, it was always his goals his dreams, I sacrificed.**Well we are now seperated.**He could not handle the fact that I was not the same women he married, many years ago and that I actually had dreams and wanted to do something with my life too.**He wanted a wife and a mother and be devoted only to him. I put up with a lot of verbal/mental abuse, accusations of infidelity and I could go on forever.**The Marine Corps let me see that it doesn't have to be that way.**I went to boot camp feeling like I was no one, no self confidence and a lot of self pity, and came out with a real life.**I love my kids and my career and now I feel like I have a purpose in my life, and not just to serve a selfish, insensative husband.**This is just My history, there are alot of Women who can make their marriages work.**I know of SEVERAL.**But they had supportive husbands too.

Hi.**I am not married yet, but I will soon and my fiance is in the Marine Corps. I shared his dream of also joining the Corps, but now I feel differently.**For if I were to also join, we could not bet together as we'd probably be stationed far from each other.**I am aware that four years is not a long time, but to star crossed lovers such as ourselves, it seems an eternity. I am only 17 yrs old, my fiance, Jesse, is 18.**He is a sweet and loving person, honest to the last word.**I would like to know what you think of what I am doing.**I have never met a woman that was married to a Marine Corps officer and I would like know of her experiences in order to be better prepared for it.**To give you ladies a better insight to my situation, I will elaborate.**I will graduate this May and as soon as Jesse and I get married, I will go with him to wherever he is stationed.**Whether it be overseas or just here in the US.**Since he is studying avionics, he is required a year of schooling, which he is doing right now.**So his total years**of service are 5. Please share with me your opinions and experiences. I will greatly appreciate anything you have to give me.
