I agree strongly that combat and infantry jobs should be available to women who serve in the corps. I am a pooleyin the marines corps, and I belive if I am going through the same training that the same jobs should also be available...

I have been an active duty Marine for four plus years now, and I agree 100% that women should be allowed into combat.**I cannot understand how any Female Marine can say that they want to be treated equally and then turn around and say it's all right to let the men go die for their country but not for the women.**I have read a few comments on this site so far that have greatly disturbed me.**First of all there is a saying in the Marine Corps that says if you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.**I feel that many females who expect to join the Marine Corps and be treated equally, but at the same time want special treatment need to take heed to that statement.**I am a generally laid back person, and it takes a lot to fire me up, but the thought of our senior female Marines conveying this attitude to the future of the corps makes me sick.**There is nothing ignorant about a female that is willing to go to combat for something they belive in.**I belive it is very ignorant to claim the title of United States Marine and not fight for your rights to defend your country.**The mentality of todays women is that they know what they belive in and they are ready to fight for it...there is not a damn thing wrong with that.**It is really sad that there are women out there today who are still willing to sit back and let the men do the hard work for them.

I'm afraid I've got to agree with the GySgt. You say you're a pooley, right? Let me guess... you've seen Platoon, and Full Metal Jacket, and Casualties of War? Don't let me forget G.I. Jane. I will agree that there are some women out there who can handle the day to day training that our grunts live with. But I'm sure not going to beg to be put in the middle of live fire, with men, women, children, friends and strangers being killed around me. If the Marine Corps needs be, I'm going without a complaint. It's something I'm supposed to be prepared for. But there are no rules in war, and there's a lot of sadistic people out there on both the enemy and friendly side. And believe it or not, even in peacetime, some people can forget their manners. Do me a favor... it looks hard to write it down on paper that you want to go to war. But why don't you go to the library and read a couple of books about the reactions and the side effects of those who have lived through wars.**War is not simply a physical endurance test,a lot of it is mental. You ever heard of a flashback? I agree with what the GySgt said about everything except for "the mentality of women these days".**Give some of us credit.**I would have to rephrase it for her as "the ignorance that surrounds us these days".******************************************** Lisa M. Dunn********************************************** Sgt/USMC******** ********************************: I do not understand why women would want to go to combat.**Combat is real and not a video game.**I agree equal pay for equal job but why you would want to put yourself in the position of going and fighting a war.**This shows the mentality of women these days.**I had the chance to go to Saudi and many women I knew did go.**It's not something I would want to do.**I would have gone if needed but it's not something I'd beg to do.**Let the men do it.**I myself do not think going into combat would be fun.: I agree strongly that combat and infantry jobs should be available to women who serve in the corps. I am a pooleyin the marines corps, and I belive if I am going through the same training that the same jobs should also be available...

well i have to disagree with an earlier post in this thread stating "let the men do it, who wants to " Now im a civvie with my heart set on being a marine, so this is just my opinion but I think if women want to risk their lives the whole point is it IS thier lives. Women shouldnt be treated any different just because their reproductive organs are on the inside. Women can use wepons and women can fight. If we want to fight for our country than for god's sake let us!
