Realize this board is for you Ladies, but hope you do not mind me adding a comment...?Just wanted to state, that during my career in the Corps,I met and worked with quite a few women Marines.Maybe a few of them probably should've been allowed to transfer into areas orfields more suitable for them, (then, this applies to many guys too), but... Most of them were as good as any of the men, ...and some Better! One of my best friends in the Corps.. was a woman. One of the most outgoing and strong willed Marines I ever met... was a woman. One of the best Workers I ever had under my supervision,... was a woman. One of the best Marksmen on the range, I ever met... was a woman. One of the best Marines I ever had to work with me or beside me... was a woman. And one of the very best Officers I had ever met and worked for... was a woman. All of these individuals (women Marines), were a pleasure to have known and worked for or with!Any and all of them, I would love to, and wouldn't hesitate to work with, or see again! And all of them...I would have no problems or frets to go into combat with!So...DON'T ever let others tell you that you cannot be a good Marine... or soldier... or person!DON'T let anyone convince you that you are worthless or no good! And DON'T ever give up trying to become better, or the person you want to be!It's not the Gender that makes a person weak or strong...It's the person and beliefs inside of you!Like yourself!Train yourself! And always strive to be better......and you will! Thanks Ladies!**Thanks Marines!

Ditto on the boost of confidence... I have been in for 4 years now, my first tour (finishing it up now) is Inspector-Instructor Duty in an Infantry Reserve unit.**I am the only female active duty stationed in the St. Louis Area and at our unit not including the Adcons, there are 30 enlisted and 3 officers all MALE.**It gets a little rough, especially when you have men from the old school (more commom with the 03 types) that dislike females (putting that real nice) and you have to prove yourself to them on a daily basis, they assume that since you are a female, and the only female, that you are going to "get over" somehow and some way.Well I am a 31 year old mother of 2 and compete daily with 19 and 20 year old "fresh" kids for promotion, I maintain a HIGH 1st class PFT not only for my age group but for the 18 to 25 year olds too, maintain high pro and con marks, have not been NJP'd or even close to it and I show up early consistantly!**But that is not enough in their eyes, sometimes I feel as if I am fighting a down hill battle, but I always remember, you are only as strong as you believe you are and no one can take your self confidence/self worth unless you hand it to them (willingly) and you can bet I will NEVER let anyone, male or female take that from me without one heck of a fight....: Realize this board is for you Ladies, but hope you do not mind me adding a comment...?Just wanted to state, that during my career in the Corps,I met and worked with quite a few women Marines.Maybe a few of them probably should've been allowed to transfer into areas orfields more suitable for them, (then, this applies to many guys too), but...
