Questions and Answers:1) I chose the Marines because they were the toughest, only promised a challenge and not everyone can be a Marine.**Less than 2% of all women have been Marines.2) No,the Marines should not focus on recruiting more women or men for that matter.**They should focus on recruiting QUALITY recuits and future Marines.**The role of the Marines is extremely important and selecting those to carry the mission of the Marines should not be taken lightly.3) NO!!! Men and women Marine recruits should not be trained together.**The job required of us is too important to have distractions around us.**The Marines have been training both men and women seprately for years and we have not RAPED any of our women while in bootcamp.**Training together causes too many problems because hormones are involved.4) I totally disagree that women should be in combat jobs.**Our bodies are different and therefore are stronger and weaker in different ways.**I feel that putting men and women in the same field should require the same set of standards for the Job.**Not one for men and one for women.**Also, I worry about men in a hot zone worrying more on protecting the female Marine instead of accomplishing their mission.**I think that unless you have served in the Marines or some other branch then you have no idea what we go through and therefore your opinion is invalid since you are an outsider looking in.5) I don't see the infantry and combat arms fields opening up soon.**Women (especially those outsiders) have a glorified image of war and battle.**Women have served in support roles during war like guarding command posts and Prisioners of War.**I sincerely do not see the fields opening up because there are only a select few that can meet the requirements of the field.**I know alot about the field because my husband is an infantry officer and has seen action in desert storm and recently in Somalia.**I wanted to wish you a lot of luck with your paper and research.**I hope that others will come forward to assist.SEMPER FI!!**SONIA

I'm doing some research on women in combat; specifically women in combat arms positions such as infantry, artillery, armour, etc.**I'm curious as to what opinions current, past and future female marines have on the subject.**I personally think that women have what it takes and that restrictions on women in combat negatively impact our armed forces.**If you are/were a female marine (or are considering enlisting), I would appreciate your thoughts on the following:1) Why did you enlist in the Marine Corps?2) Do you think the Marines should focus on recruiting more women?3) Should females be trained with male recruits during basic training?4) What is your opinion of women in combat arms positions? (For or against)5) Would you consider a MOS in the infantry, field artillery, etc. if they were available to women?5) Do you think that combat arms should be a voluntary or involuntary for women? (assuming question #3 is**"for women in combat arms")6) Regardless of your opinion on women in combat arms, do you think that this is an inevitable step.**If so, how long do you think it will be until women are on the front-lines?I would appreciate responses from current, past and future female marines only.**Thank you and keep up the good work!
