Marines past, present and future~
I wanted to share a little of our birthday party with you. Some of you know my husband, Eli, is a former Marine (Cpl. Anderson~amtracs!). If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be fulfilling my dream of becoming one myself. Civilians just don't understand this kind of thing, but I bet those reading here will.
Well, I was in charge of the cake today (chocolate with oreo cookie icing-yeah!)...but when I came home the house smelled awesome from the great dinner being made: we had pasta and chicken cacciatore and there were presents for the Marine recruit of the family...!:) Eli bought me a copy of John Wayne's awesome Marine movie "The Sands of Iwo Jima", and somewhere, don't ask me how (Marines do have a way of "acquiring" things from nowhere) he gave me a genuine Marine Corps birthday/veterans day card, in which he told me in no uncertain terms that he was very proud I was soon "joining the family."
Well, I was beside myself of course: my first introduction to this fabulous thing called 10 November was just PHENOMENAL...we had our dinner and cake, (and yes sang the first verse of the Marine Hymn) and Eli, as both the youngest AND oldest Marine present got an extra piece, watched the movie, and remembered--because they are never forgotten--those Marines that came before him, (and soon me), and the sacrifices they made, and felt very luck indeed to be part of, and understand, such a wonderful thing called The United States Marine Corps.
Semper Fidelis to you all!!
