Hi everyone!!
i've got a couple of questions that i would like to ask you guys. i'm also asking my recruiter.
1. is there an up-to-date pay chart so that i can see how much i'd be getting paid while at bootcamp?
2. how does one go about paying for bills such as credit cards, school loans, etc. while you're at bootcamp?
ugh... i thought i had more questions, but i guess i don't (i just can't remember right now)
anyway, if they happen to come back to me, i'll post them..thanks

: Hi everyone!! Hi Nicole! Did you find a pay chart? If not I found one at the following: www.army.mil/usar/psc/ocarhp.htm When do you leave for the island? not sure how they do things these days but you will probably be able to fill out allotment paperwork either before you go or once you get to the island. An allotment will allow money to go to a certain place. Either a trusted friend or relative can pay your bills or you can direct deposit the allotment in a bank that has automatic payment of bills. hope the info helps.

Hi Nicole! In response to your questions about pay while in boot...my recruiter explained it to me this way: you are given $250. upon arrival that is posted in a direct deposit account in your name. You are given a debit card to use at the store that they have there. The $250 is taken out of your first months pay. You are paid monthly by direct deposit but cannot access the money while in boot. (This makes sense as they are doing everything possible to avoid the temptation of quitting and it is a lot harder to take off with no money!) I don't know about making arrangements to pay bills through direct payment, I know they have this option AFTER boot but I'm not sure about during, however my recruiter said I will have NO outside access to my money whatsoever. If you are concerned about a car payment (which I was) ask your recruiter to explain the Soldiers and Sailors Act of 19-something (sorry don't remember the exact date) which allows you to receive an extension on your loan for three months if neccessary for military service, this means you go for three months without making a payment and your loan is simply three months longer, interest free. So are you signed yet? When is your ship date? If you have any more questions feel free to email me and Good Luck!!
