She would not have to apply for American citizenship. The easiest way to get the questions answered is to write a letter of her intentions and wishes to HQMC, perhaps they will give her the correct answers. I worked alongside quite a few non-American citizens who were Navy enlisted, so yes it does exist and no they did not have to apply for citizenship. It's simple enough to get the infor over the web, or at least the addresses.

As I have said in the message prior all she needs to do is get work visa and greencard. The only part of the US Forces that is unallowable is the officer corps and for that you must be a US citizen. As I've said before I've been through the process myself and it's truely not as complicated as it seems to have become here.

AJL:

I too agree with you that to become an officer, one would have to get citizenship. This is what I was referring to in my previous post, citizenship as a req. for officers, not for enlisted...Notice I did not say "give up" but 'get'. I'm sure people could have dual citizenship but I probably shouldn't introduce that can of worms! :o)

I think the whole issue here has evolved from a misunderstanding of a statement that was made. A 'could' evolved into a 'have to' somehow and the whole thing ballooned from there.
