One thing about this board it is never dull. You Ladys have such a vast amount of knowledge to share. The ones who are fomer Marines and Present Marines and not afraid to post their email addresses when they post I applaude you. The one who don't, makes me wonder what kind of Marines you actually were, the ones who would stand up for their beliefs and their fellow Marines. Not afraid to comment and take the grief. Remember to error is human to forgive is divine.:-)

My daughter is going to OCS this june and I would like to think she would not have a DI gunning for her just because she is posting on this board. Frankly ladies you might scare off a few good woman by some of the comments I have read on here, not from going into the Marines, but just off the board. The majority of you have made some very good comments on here and have helped ease a lot of fears of this mother. And I think the key words here for me is peace of mind. Knowing when she is in OCS that she will be in good hands. And the Pride you all have, is being passed down to a new generation of Marine Women. Times are changing and so is the Corps, women today have a choice. They might have to fight for it. No one has said it will be an easy road to travel. But in the end it will be worth it.

I personnaly believe people like Monica will breath new life into the Marines, they have a zest for life, don't kill that before it begins, she is going into this with eyes wide open thanks to the internet and boards like this one. Family and friends are very important as is pride and commitement. She has always said check with your recruiter if you don't believe what she is saying is right. Never once has said she was 100% sure.lol

One of the reasons I come to this board is for information and read of the many wonderful storys you have to share of your experiences as WM. I hope soon my daughter will be doing the same. Shannon is very excited and motivated and I for one am thrilled with her decision. She could make a whole lot more money in civilian life. With her Degree in Computer Science and Business. She is on the deans list and is a student athlete. But it is all about making a difference.

These are just some thoughts from a very proud Mom of seven, and wife of a former Marine and soon to be Woman Marine Officer. Lets keep this board going with "Positive" comments and advice to help motivate more young woman and help them with their transistion into becoming,

"The Few, The Proud, The Marines".

One thing about bbs is...paper trail.. If you want to find a previous e-mail address...look it up!!!

Ms Anderson has guts and I stand behind her. And The DI who wants to meet up with her is also rooting for her! She likes those who aren't afraid to speak their minds...in some situations I personally think it CAN get some into trouble.

I'm out of here until after the new year...Bless you all.

I was referring to the pseudo email addresses some people have been using on this board, not the legitimate ones. And there has been a few of them. Thank You for the reponse to my letter.

Have a very Safe and Happy Holiday.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!! God Bless.

Great post, Momsarg, very positive. I am biased because Monika is my friend, but I have several things to say here. First of all, when few active duty Marines post here (I know many of us tend to delight when they do, in order to get at some first hand female Marine experience). If new recruits were keeping out active duty WM's by taking up valuable space by posting encouragement, tossing ideas and facts learned from recruiters and active duty Marines...then I could see the need to move these useful exchanges to another corner of this website. I haven't been around in a while due to about 3 times the load at work, so I have minimal time to check this thing, however I have to agree with this post here. Monika is full of enthusiasm and brought a positive and supportive spirit upon this WM section, and I see the enthusiasm spread. I believe that fire can help through the seemingly impossible times. With all due respect for experience, which nothing can touch, I feel this is the ground right here for future, current and former Marines to share whatever issues come to mind. I have learned much from everybody here because collectively so much information and sharing of experience has been brought forth, including what goes on at Poolee meetings and the like. If these enthusiastic ladies about to embark on a journey they will never forget are not welcome here to exchange ideas, then that truly is a shame since we don't have 9 million other WM sites this user friendly and professionally created. I say bring in more experience, more stories like those told recently (much enjoyed!), but sometimes the enthusiasm cultivated just by sharing the love of the Corps can be enough to send a wary lady on her way to boot camp. Like it was said, these are Marines of the future and I see nothing wrong with this being, in part, a cultivating ground. I am sure any of those contemplating or planning on becoming Marines more than appreciate those posting here who have already made that trip and earned the title. I guess when you are active duty, newby prep is like old news, and I can see how that can get old. But it's all a cycle, and all wisdom and love for the Corps should land here and benefit, whether future Corps, present, or past. I have gained insight and knowledge here I am grateful for, and while I understand the underlying benific intention AL sent accross through direct wording, I don't think Mon is being much more than really into this whole thing and providing useful info to all who ask, while advising always 'ask your recruiter to be sure'. Whatever happens after the yellow foot prints is really up to her, and I've got faith. The point is I hope that when I'm active duty I don't forget those who are still just peeking their heads around the corner, wondering what boot camp is like. Actually, it's even an ideal contact point... for using experience and Corps wisdom to encourage those in the 1st stages of becoming a Marine. You've got to start somewhere, and I think new recruits figure they will be ripped down enough in boot, so now is the time to cultivate some extra courage, enthusiasm, and esprit de corps. All the best to everyone who contributes, you're a great bunch of ladies.
