View Full Version : Every Marine is a Rifleman/woman......????

Ok i have this question, you know how they say that every MARINE is a Rifleman first! Does that apply to woman as well? And if it does i was wondering how possible it would be to lose the job you signed for? I know woman are not allowed field positions, i'm just thinking if they change the men out of some other postions to fields positions. Will they start moving women to fill in there previous positions? This may be a stupid question, but it was running through my head and had to ask.

One more thing i was very close to signing with the NAVY, and i've recently decided to consider the MARINES as well. As it's always been something i've wanted to do more, i always canceled out the idea due to weight problems. But i have a year to work that out, and it's not a big problem. So i now have the opportunity to look into the MARINES! I was looking at becoming an Intelligence Specialist(IS, or CTO. Were the one's i was considering.), i qualified for the Job already with the NAVY. I don't know if that means that i also qualify with the MARINES. I was also looking to find out what other job's there were that fall under the INTEL field... So any information you could give me would be greately appreciated.

Every Marine a rifleman applies to ALL Marines, men and women. This is one of the few areas where men and women are held to the same high standard. Anyone who fails rifle qualifications will fail Marine Corp boot camp.

As far as I know, women are not allowed into the Combat Arms branch (i.e. Infantry, Armor, etc.) But all other positions are open. From all reports, most Marines are non-combat Marines. Something like only 15% are in the combat fields.

You should speak to your local recruiter about jobs you might qualify for in the Marine Corp. If you want more information online, besides this wonderful forum, there's also an excellent website that contains a lot of information on the Marines. Here it is: http://usmilitary.about.com/
