Hi, I am approaching my junior year of college and have begun looking into programs for law school. Coming from a Military Family, I have been looking into the FLEP program for Law School. I was wondering if joining the military for financial reasons and desiring a challenge are weak reasons? I would love to speak to Lawyer for the Marine Corps. I don't want to make a rash decision. How did you know if this is the right step to take, if military law is right for you? Its a huge commitment that can not be backed out on. I would really apprecate any advice! Thanks so much.

My personal opinion is that you finish your last 2 years of college. Then, if you feel that the military is right for you, then go for it. Since you will have a college degree, you will be an officer. Marine Corps Officers make a lot more money than an enlisted. I am not sure what the procedures are for OSC because I am enlisted. The reason that you gave are the #1 resons that people join. The G.I bill and the challenge. Believe me, the Montgomery G.I. bill is a great tool to have once you decide to continue you schooling. Also, the Corps has a program with the Naval college where you can read up on certain courses and then take a test. If you pass, it will count as if you took the actual course. They are called CLEP tests. I took several of them and I am almost to the point of getting my Biology degree. These courses are free to the military and that way you don't have to dig into your GI bill. I hope that this make sense to you. You can ask a Marine Corps rescruiter to help you. Just make sure to tell them that you simple need info on OSC and the MOS's that are available. I hope that this helped you. I am sorry if I didn't asnwer all your questions.
