I'm having a little trouble with joining the Marines and am wondering if someone can give me a bit of advice. I've never done this before, but I didn't think it would be so difficult.
Twice, I tried to sign up to talk to a recruiter on the official Marine Corp website. Both times I just got an automated email that says "Thank you for your interest in Marine Corp officer program. Please contact your OSO for more information..." More than a month passed and I haven't receive any additional information via email, telephone, nor email since then. I don't even know the name of an OSO to contact.
Without the name of an OSO, I decided to do the only other thing I can think of : talk to a recruiter at the Times Square recruiting station during one of my rare time off from work. He wasn't there, but I spoke with him on the telephone and gave him all my information. Because I had another meeting that day, I asked him to call me back at a later date. He never did.
I never imagined it would be so difficult to even get my foot in the door. I don't have a criminal record and my physical condition is very good. Does anyone have any advice on what my next step should be? Should I wait for someone to contact me?
I can't think of any reason why I'm having difficulty joining. Are the Marines not recruiting for the rest of this year?
