Just out of curiosity would somebody fill me in on the Marine Corps' "policy" on marriage. If I am married to another Marine what are the odds of us being stationed together after my MOS school? Particularly if our MOS' are in the same field? How and when do you find out when you will or will not be stationed with your spouse?

I was married to another Marine in the Corps. They are very good about keeping you stationed within a 50 mile radius of one another. My ex-husband and I were in the same MOS and we never had a problem with duty station assignments. Make sure when you have your Admin meeting in school and are asked your coast preference let them know that you are married to another Marine and they will work to accomadate you. You can't be seperated for more than 12 months and while you are seperated, one spouse will be paid seps pay, which is about $100 a month. Make sure that your spouse is listed in your SRB as an active duty spouse so that the HQMC is aware and so that you can get the correct pay. Also whenever you go to talk to your monitor once in the fleet make sure you and your spouse always go together that way the MOS monitor (responsible for duty assignments)can work with you on your assignments

My husband and I are now retired, myself as a MSgt and him as a 1stSgt.
During our life together on Active Duty, we were very lucky to be stationed together, in fact at times in the same office. Our MOS was Disbursing at the time we met and married and continued that way for about the first 15 years of our marriage.
Then as luck would have it, he got assigned to a B billet which was MARDET USS EISENHOWER. This kept us apart for almost a year, then I got orders to the same home port. After that tour he picked up 1stSgt and was sent to another location that did not have billets for my MOS. I retired about 18 months after that.
All in all the Marine Corps did do a good job of keeping us in the same household for quite awhile. But, as you get up in rank the open billets for you rank become less and less. So, it gets harder to keep you together. But, I can't say that it hurt or helped our relationship. Because we have nothing else to compare it to that we know. We enjoyed our 22 years in the Marine Corps and sharing most of that as husband and wife. It gave us the opportunity to share so much together and now we can share those memories.
Good luck to you and yours and may you both enjoy your time on Active Duty.
