Even if the President gave an order you would be required to obey it, however and it holds true for even officers of less rank if that order is illegal you are duty bound to question and maybe not follow the order. If you carry out the order that person issuing it is held accountable. So if the President issued an illegal order by the time it got to the troops it would have probably been discovered and rescinded if not you would have to carry it out and the President would be held accountable non the less.
