My husband is thinking of re-enlisting as E-5 air traffic controller. Therefore, I am considering going in 0-1 with my college background. How well will the Air Force keep us together. I have a five month old daughter and family is very important to me. I don't mind spending a lot of time overseas as long as we can stay together. Does anyone have experience to set my mind at ease?
Thanks, Amy

I've been in the AF for awhile now, but not too knowledgable about joint spouse, except I know for enlisted married to enlisted, the AF does a good job of keeping them together. It might even be better for your case, as officers can usually pick where they get assigned. But then again, you're just going in as an O-1, and they don't usually get to decide where they go. You never know however, you'll just need to talk with a recruiter, but don't trust them too much! GOod luck.

I know a couple where she was E-4 ATC, and he was E-4 who got into OTS and got a commission. They had been stationed together on the West coast when they were both enlisted. Well sure enough after OTS he got his first officer assignment on the east coast, at a place that didn't even have her enlisted job. They even looked into being at a nearby (100 miles ) base and the AF wouldn't allow it. It was a mess, they spent a year apart and then I think she got out. This might not happen often, but "Air Force needs come first" at all times and you have to accept that.
