Several questions indeed!! :o) Well, first of all, being a police officer, I believe, you already posess all the positive traits you need to join the Air Force!! You can even request a guaranteed job in your current field. The ASVAB is not hard at all...I didn't think so. I did the guard and I am active duty. My preference is active, but that's a personal choice. To know if your recruiter is on the up and up, just ask yourself if s/he is reminding you of a car salesman when they answer a question. The best bet is to gather information and go in to their office informed. If you have any more questions, feel free to e me!! Happy New Year!

:
: Hi ladies, I'm a 25 yr old police officer in the Nation's Capitol (Washington
: DC) and have been considering joining the AF for some time now for various
: reasons. As time goes on I am more certain each day. I figured I'd go in
: as Reserve just to see if this is really something I want to pursue. I
: have several questions. So I'm just going to throw them out there (in no
: particular order).
:
: 1. Is hair a big problem in the AF (natural, braids, locs) all within
: conservative simple means?
:
: 2. I'm 25, about 165lbs, 5'10"....and in good shape but needs work on
: endurance and flexiblity, what would you suggest? and do you think I'd be
: asked to lose any weight?
:
: 3. What are the most usable career moves that can actually be applied in the
: civilian world after your duration in the military? ie, medical,
: computers..etc.
:
: 4. How bad is the ASVAB?? I've never taken or even seen what the test
: is....please feel me in on how to prepare for it, enlighten me how to
: score high and what advantages that may have on your class or career
: choices.
:
: 5. How do you know when a recruiter is BSing you? When is the best time to
: talk to a recruiter, what to look for, questions to ask...etc?
:
: Well this is all I can think of now....but please don't let this prevent you
: from sharing any other advice, wisdom, experiences..
:
: I would also love the chance to actually speak to other young and older
: women..experienced or not......I'm trying to learn as much as possible
: before I even talk to a recruiter. Email me at jmuw99@hotmail.com or AOL
