Just wondering what kind of deductions are applied to AF pay. I am trying to figure out what kind of arrangements I need to make for myself re: bills and debts. I believe the pay in OTS is E5 and once commissioned then it goes to O1. Thanks for the information!

Jen - your pay is just like that of a civilian -- you have federal, social security, and state (if applicable) withheld. Anything else withheld is up to you (like allotments--car payments, withholding to a savings account, etc.) Believe you're correct about the pay scheme. I was already an E-6 when I went to OTS, so I received that pay. It jumped up (not much from an E-6 though!) to O-1 upon graduating from OTS. Diane
