I'm glad to see that the majority of these responses have good things to say about the Air Force. Sometimes I feel that I am one of the only people who still consider themselves patriotic. It isn't very often you come across another person who gets misty-eyed during the playing of the National Anthem. I haven't become a member of the Air Force yet, but I have already made the commitment to serve. And God willing, I will become one of the many proud service men and women in the upcoming months. I can't wait until the challenge of training, and I can't wait to see myself in uniform.
Serving your country is one of the most noble things a person can do, and I find it disturbing that people are no longer willing to commit their lives in defense of their country unless their recruiter promises them that extra bonus for enlisting. We may not be at war now, and we should be thankful for that, but if the times does come again, how many people will willingly volunteer?
I've read many of the posting on this site, some are very positive, others aren't. Though I may not have the experience yet, one's happiness in the military depends on what you make of it, just like everything else in life. If you go in with selfish intent, you probably won't be happy. If you go in with the intent of serving your country, learning from your experiences and growing in the process, there is something that you will gain, and that is intengrity.
