I am a non-U.S. citizen and I will mostlikely join the Air Force within the next year or so. I would like to hear from other foreigners in the military and their experiences. Did you have any problems with military terms or did other members of the military treat you any different?

Also, does anyone know if there is a website that lists the duration of tech school for all the jobs in the Air Force?

Hi, I joined in June 1982, shortly before they changed the rules in Nov 82 where you now MUST be a citizen to re-enlist. I had no problem with the language...but I was British then. I haven't seen others encounter any problems, but if you choose to make it a career, you'll have to become a citizen of the us. A long, convaluted process which cannot be started until you've been in the military for 3 years. So, if you decide to, I suggest you make your first enlistment a 6 year hitch, to give you wiggle room. I could give you more details if you ask specific questions, but for now you have my e-mail. Good luck with your career choices Linda
