I'm thinking about joining the air force. I would like to find out about how women are treated, particularly African American Women, what to expect at Basic Training. If anyone can give me some information on these things..please email me at LilStarr@webtv.net Thanks

I'm an African American woman myself and I can honestly say that the USAF treats everyone with equality regardless of race, color, ethnicity, or religion. I personally think the USAF is the best branch to get into because we have such a high quality of life, it is a great way of life. I'm 34 years of age. I enlisted into the USAF when I was 25. The USAF encourages you to get your education done through off-duty study, they pay 75% of the tuition and fee costs; not to mention $23,000 from the G.I. Bill you can use after 36 months of active duty service. This was how I did it when I was enlisted. It took me four years to complete my bachelor's degree in bus adm while I was on active-duty. I applied for Officers Training School and received my commission that way at age 30. Whether you come in enlisted or as an officer the USAF has so much to offer and I highly recommend it to anyone that has a good head on their shoulders, looking for benefits and opportunities that wasn't available to them in the civilian sector. I hope this info helps good luck. The skies the limit Aim High.
