I am seriously thinking about joining the Air Force within the next year. I got a lot of information already (thank God for this website!!!) =) Since I am not a U.S. citizen I have learned that I will be restricted to certain jobs. I am interested in an office job, possibly as Administrative Specialist or Finance Specialist. Can anybody tell me what I can expect in that field. E.g. how long is tech school? Would I always work for the same office or when I get new orders could I get into a whole different "department"? How likely is it to be deployed in that area? How hard is it to make rank?...
Any comment is being appreciated.

From an AF Information Managers view~Your biggest challenge will be getting a security clearance, which is required in nearly all areas to be able do do your job, this is especially true in the IM field. The upside is, there are the most opportunities for us to "expand our horizons" in this job. We do everything from overseeing orderly rooms to being network administrators. Tech school was (for me) self-paced and at the most six-weeks, I finished in four. I have worked in operations, maintenace and headquarters and they have all been great assignments. I have deployed with the unit several times and I've also stayed behind to "hold down the fort". As far as promotions, there are alot us in this career field so promotions are hard but, still even that depend's on YOU. Best wishes
