Hi If you want to go to OTS after graduating college, does the kind of degree you have effect wether or not you are accepted? Also, does the kind of degree you have mean that you have to have a job in that kind of feild? Because I am majoring in writing and history and I think I would like to do something in aviation ( be part of an air crew, navigator, etc). Thanks!

Your degree doesnt necessarily dictate the job you might have. You can choose the job you want given that its accepted as one of your 3 prefs. you put down o your application. I am a HIS and POS major- so writing, reading and research was very big w/ my studies. I would like to be in a more technical field myself too. What does determine you field more so, are your AFOQT scores and how you do on those. There are 16sub tests which are complied into 5 raw scores: pilot, navigator, academic aptitude, verbal, and quantitative. study aids such as the officer candidate test books and the military flight aptitude books by ARCO can help you understand what the tests are abuot and how to answer the questions better. I scored very high on the verbal but low on the quantitative.. but it doesnt mean everything.
