It looks like I'll be leaving for training in July or August. I'm a little scared about that because I have low tolerences for heat. Is this going to be a problem? I'm in pretty good shape, but I still have problems running or being very active when it's really warm out, and I'm sure it will be that way in Texas. Does the Air Force take any precautions when it's hot out? Will they still make us run if there's high heat and humidity?

I think you should alay your fears about BT during the summer. Yes its going to be hot and cranky, but the AF would never put you into a position where theyfeel that you would be compromised physically or mentally. Ive believe that you will train earlier in the morning or in an area where it is covered and out of the weather. They will supply adequate hydration for you. It does them no good to have to 'recycle' you by not training you properly. You will have to run, no doubt because that is part of your PT. Talk to your recruiter, too. They should be able to help you.

:I completed basic training during the summer months and, yes, it is hot and humid. However, there are requirements (i.e. work/rest cycles, hydration requirements, etc.) to ensure that trainees are protected during the extreme weather conditions.
Whether your a trainee or an active duty member, there is the work/rest cycle that establishes the amount of work to be performed and the amount of rest to be allowed dependent on the type of work (light/moderate/heavy) you are required to perform. Additionally, the work/rest cycle regulation also provides information about the amount of water that should be consumed dependent on the type of work you are accomplishing.
If you have any further questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask your trainer during BT. All the best.
