Hi ladies,

I am 31 yrs. old and I want to join the AF. I need to talk to my family about it and I'm not quite sure how they are going to handle it. I have done a lot of research but I have a feeling I can do all the research in the world and still not be prepared for bootcamp. I would like some advice. I look forward to my journey with the AF and what it has to offer me. It is NEVER too late. "Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved."

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Sorry to tell you, but you are too old for the Air Force, unless you are going to join for OTS. But if you go in as enlisted you have to report to boot camp before your 28th birthday. Check out the other branches. I know in the Army the cut-off age is 35.

Ma'am,

31 is not too old to join the Air Force. The person who wrote that has misinformed you. I went through basic with a 31 year old. She did very well. Granted, she dealy with a bit of harassment because of her age, but she made it through just fine. If you don't mind dealing with immature 18-19 year old trainees who are 100% drama, (trust me on this one), then you are sure to suceed. I would certainly make sure to be physically fit before joining, but outside of that, your prefectly eligible to join. I would do it soon though. Best of luck to you ma'am. If you decide to join, you can always go Reserves if it truly is an issue with your family members. I will happily assist you in answering other questions. Just shoot me an email. :) ---SrA Andrea Anello
