I am just curious...when you graduate recruit training do all female recruits wear a skirt? I was just wondering...I have seen only a few pictures of female graduations and they were dated a few years. All of the ones I seen the women graduated in their skirts.

A few years back the female grads used to wear skirts for summer graduation or as long as the weather was warmer. In cooler weather and winter females wore trousers. More recently the change was made to trousers year round for a more uniform appearance at graduation. The change was also made recently from graduating in the summer wearing your Deltas (short sleeve khaki shirt with dress blue trousers) to charlies for summer (khaki short sleeve with green trousers). Winter uniform has always been Service Alpha's. While I was at boot camp skirts were still the norm and we stood all uniform inspections except our final inspection in skirts. I am not sure if that has changed as well, a more recent boot camp grad maybe able to answer that. Your final Battalion Commander's inspection is stood in whatever uniform you are wearing for graduation. Also platoon honor grads wear Dress Blue's year round.

Hey Stephanie, why do the women only wear the khaki shirt and not the full dress green uniform? When my fiance' graduated in January 2003 they graduated in the green dress uniform but they wore the entire dress uniform. I was just wondering......

They do wear the entire uniform and it is called the Service Alpha uniform. Khaki shirts are the summer uniform. Hope this clarifies things.

MY FORMER WIFE WAS A MARINE WHO GRAD IN 91, SHE WORE THE DRESS BLUE SKIRT AND TOP, LOOKS VERY SHARP

Wow really? Was she honorman? I thought only the honorman wore blues on graduation day especially since it is optional to buy.
