Last summer I tore a cartlidge in my knee due to a basketball injury. Will this injury effect my chances of being able to join?

The recruiter will run a medical prescreen on you and send it to the processors, they will read your documentation on the medical condition and determine if you can process or not. If not, they will need more documentation to run by the Surgeon General for review. Sometimes waivers are approved and sometimes they are not. These situations are always on a case by case basis. It could limit your job opportunities also. If you really want to join, bring your pre-op and post-op paperwork to the recruiter when you first meet him/her. That will save you an additional visit. Did you have an ACL? That is disqualifying, but like I said, bring all of your paperwork and the recruiter can try to get a waiver for you. Good Luck!

My husband is currently an officer in the Air Force and tore his ACL playing basketball in high school. So don't give up hope.
