My daughter leaves for AF BMT on April 4. She then goes to EOD Tech School at Lackland and if successful on to Eglin for Tech School. Any one who has any info on women in EOD your insight would be appreciated.
Thank you

EOD is a male dominated career field, however, it does NOT limit your daughters opportunities one slightest bit. There is no tolerance for Sexual Harrassment and if your daughter feels she has been offended in any way because she is a female, then she needs to speak up. Many women that are victims of Sexual Harrassment don't do anything about it. There should be no fear of reprisal. I've known many women in my 21 years, that have worked around a lot of men and loved it, some don't. If you do your job well, you will get respect no matter what sex you are. You got to remember, the Air Force is about 80% men and 20% women. So you have to expect being around a lot of men.
The technical school is very hard. So she needs to be prepared for some tough work. There is no room for errors with EOD, so they are very strict at the tech school. There are a few guys I put in EOD with high ASVAB scores that washed out of EOD tech school. So she must be sharp as a tack and focus on her studies and not socialize so much. She needs to include herself in study groups or start one of her own. They encourage teamwork. If she tries to do it all on her own it will be harder. It's easy to loosen up over time in tech school after being in basic training and the young folks tend to enjoy the "free time" socializing, (which is okay to some extent to stave off the stress), but she absolutely cannot overdue it. Her studies MUST COME FIRST.
I wish her luck.
