The most weight that you can lose per week is 2lbs (ie: 8lbs/month). That is the healthy way to go, (in addition to being the safest). I'd suggest not to use any of those "miracle" weight lose supplements that you see in those informorcials, etc. You need to eat right (ie: cut way down on your fat, salt intake, etc), drink plenty of water, etc. And when you do start to lose the weight, It's the water that starts to go first, not the fat. And EXCERCISE (but first, see your health care provider before starting any excercise program). Losing weight takes time, don't expect it to happen in the short time span that you posted. You don't want to lose weight too quickly, just to gain it all back. You may want to check out the following website: www.webmd.com to get ideas, etc. But please, take it slow. And again, if you have a health care provider that you use, make an appt to discuss the proper and healthy way to lose the weight, and to keep it off.

There is a book I picked up nearly 3 years ago,
The Body Sculpting Bible For Women
I started out at 230# when I bought this book. I read it and practiced what it suggested religiously. (The book also says you should only lose 2# a week.)
It teaches you how to eat, what to eat, and when to eat. It takes the guesswork out of weight loss, which is what I needed.
Also, it teaches you when and how to exercise, mainly promoting muscle building because the only way to permanently increase your metabolism is through gaining muscle mass.
"Myth No. 1: Muscle training makes you bulky. Due to the fact that women do not produce as much testosterone (the hormone responsible for increasing muscle size) as males do, it is impossible for a women to gain huge amounts of muscle mass...”
It also addressing many more of the weight issue myths we face.
Before this book I tried every one of those quick fix methods. I tried pills, diets, etc.. and it wasn’t until I got into the gym that I started losing weight. Practically the first day I stepped into that gym and started eating the way this book suggests I started losing weight.
The first 3 months I lost 40#, which is more than the recommended 2 pounds a week unfortunately, so I probably lost muscle mass too. After that I started losing steadily as long as I was in the gym. When I quit going to the gym I quit losing, but I didn’t gain any of the weight back. As soon as I started going again, the weight would start coming off again.
I don’t know what my body fat was when I started but I had already lost nearly 30# when I got it tested and it was a whopping 47%....can you imagine! Now I am at 25% which is still about 5%-10% more than I would like...but I know that if I was as dedicated throughout the whole process as I was the first 3 months, I would have lost all the body fat I wanted in that first year.
This is encouraging information...I promise you. I was a typical ‘lifer’ when it came to being over weight...I hadn’t been in a size 12 since I was in 7th grade, 12 years, and now I’m in a 6/8. For those of you that have struggled with obesity...that is an amazing feeling and feat.
Good luck....you can do it too!
P.S. It occurred to me that some may think I am trying to promote this book for personal gain...I'm not. I dont' know the people that wrote it...or the people that are selling it or anything. I dont' even know if it is still in print. (You may have to find it through ebay or something) I just know what it feels like to be fat and to feel hopeless about it...and would have loved for someone to give me this information years ago.

Take your time and do this right. Get lots of good exercise, boot camp is no walk in the park and you'll be glad for the time you spend now working on the new you. You don't want to go to boot camp and be put on a diet, just to keep you there. Take your time!!! I've been there and done that. The best diet is a change in your lifestyle. Eat FRESH!, lots of fruit and veggies, a little less red meat. Lots of water, they say take your weight divide by 2 and that is the # of ounces of plain water you should drink to loose. Now remember as you loose, the number changes and you'll need to adjust. Don't give up. I'm an old Marine, BC 1964, Paris Island, SC, I have never forgotton and I still walk like a Marine even at my age. You go for it girl. We are all here for you, if you want it bad enough the weight will just fall off. Oh, and don't forget think thin. Get yourself a picture of A WM in dressblues and put your face over hers, tape to the fridge and your half way there. My best Semper-fi.
