I am interested in doing security forces. I was hoping someone could answer a few questions for me. Where is the tech school located? What do I need to score on the ASVAB to qualify for this job? What bases could I be stationed at?

Tech school is at Lackland AFB, same place as Basic. You will also go out into the field to Camp Bullis for field training. I heard from people I put in that it is fun. For security forces shoot for a 40 in the general area. The requirement is 30 according to my guys down the hall. Can you lift 70lbs? That use to be the requirement also. You still want to do very well on the test in case you do not qualify for cop. You can be disqualified for cop by having any arrests, or bad credit. See a recruiter to get set up for the ASVAB. Security Forces is the largest career field and can be sent ANYWHERE!!! One of the perks of the career field.
Good Luck

I served as a Security Police K-9 handler, MWD, from 1970-74. I loved the field and I believe that this experience made me professionally. I served in Base Police, K-9, SAT, Missile Security both as a team member and a supervisor. I played football for the SP Sqrn. team as QB in Europe, serving also at Andrews, and Ellsworth AFB. I have been a guest speaker at the Security Forces Academy at Lackland AFB. Women became part of SF operations in 1971, they can do the job. Good luck.

I am now a former security forces member. I have 14 years in the field. One of the great aspects of the career field is EVERY base requires them so your possiblities are endless. I must warn you it is a tough and demanding career field but it can also be very rewarding. Prepare for long deployments to the desert and long shifts. Like any career it is what you make of it.
