If you want to join the Marine Corp talk to a recruiter to discuss your options. If you sign up as enlisted, I'm pretty sure you have to go through the Marine Corp bootcamp. It's much tougher than the bootcamps of the other services. There's plenty of books on that topic and this forum also contains lots of information about the Marine Corp bootcamp.
If you're interested in being an officer, you should speak with a Officer Selection Officer (OSO) about the Officer Candidate School (OCS). I believe that you have to either be attending college or have already graduated to be selected. In addition, you'll have to put together an application to OCS (i.e. gather 4 or 5 referrals from professors or employers, write an essay, etc.). It's almost like applying to graduate school. OCS is very competitive and the physical fitness requirements are pretty high.
Good luck!
