Been out of the Corps for almost six years - did my four years, enjoyed it and would recommend it to any young woman who is considering the military.
There seems to be alot of questions posted here about bootcamp. There is a book available called Parris Island written by a former woman marine at whiskeycreekpress.com. It does a good job of giving you a good idea of what to expect in bootcamp from a woman who has been there and done it.
Thinking back, my bootcamp experience wasn't that bad - it has a lot to do with attitude and working as a team. In fact one my most significant worreis when I left for bootcamp was getting over modesty concerns - which really was no big deal. If you're going to bootcamp, you'll soon understand - showering with 40-50 other women, standing in your bra and panties everynight for inspection...
If you are thinking about joining, make sure you give it full consideration as it is a significant decision, but if you are inclined at all, go ahead and join as you will benefit greatly from the experience.
