Once you have completed bootcamp and your school for your MOS is it acceptable to get a tattoo? On the back of the neck-USMC?

Not on the neck, nor on the hands, wrists, etc, basically, the tatoo MUST NOT be visiable (no matter how small) when you wear your uniform (ie: when you're wearing a short sleeve shirt, etc).

Is it still considered visible if it is under your hair but your hair is still above your color?

Good question. I'd like to think, yes. Paula, what do you say?

The Marines have just implemented a new policy on tattoos that I understand is very stringent. I don't know all the particulars, but from what I can glean, even under the hairline is inappropriate. Your best bet is to check with the recruiter since there are new guidelines because the regulation addresses not only placement, but what you can have as a tattoo.

Hello

Here's a great link for you that might explain the Tattoo Policy of the Marine Corps. It's very up-to-date. I hope it helps you! Good Luck.

ANything above the collar is not waiverable, period. It doesn't matter if it is in your hairline. No matter wheter you hair iss shorter or long it will be visible when in uniforma and you hair is within regulations. Tats on the arms are not as big an isse as the neck, face, head. They just don't budge.
