Hi, I'm a college sophomore in NROTC. Currently I'm still a Navy option Midshipman but have wanted to be a Marine since I was 14. I love that uniform. The determination and pride. My stepfather is in the Army and practically cursed me out when I first mentioned to him. Ok...We have an MOI(Major) and AMOI(GySGT) and I told my Major that I want to be a Marine and punked out for a really personal, long reason that is unprintable. I really want to be a Marine...I do. I feel like I'm shamming walking around in my Khakis and Whites. But there are some personal things I need to get past. I would love anybody's input on anything...what the Marines is really like beyond PT, PCSing, marriage, having kids, sports, sexual harassment, everything...anything you think someone should know about the Marines other than its the greatest. An older African-American female's opinions would be great as well.

You want to change, OK. It should be your choice, but I understand. I come from an Army, Air, background. I'm not black, but I'm old. Being a Marine is being a part of a very special family. When the say "once a Marine always a Marine", they arn't jokinig. To this day, and I'm 60 this year, I'v never net a Marine young or old, male or female, that didn't greet me, upon learning we shared that special bound, with Semper FI! I my heart and life I am still a Marine, to the day I die and beyond. Remember the streets of heaven are guarded by US Marines. I was in Platoon 13A at Paris Island, South Carolina, in 1964. My best friend who I lost track of was black, we called her Jackson. Do a search and see if you can find her, she gives good advice. Semper FI, dracos
